Photoshop cs2 Tutorial - Colorization Basic color on grayscale images...
1. Open your black and white image in photoshop and make sure your image mode is RGB color
2. Go to layer ----> New and create a new layer. Once the layer dialog box opens choose Overlay
mode. You should see a new layer appear over your blackground.
You will paint your color on this layer. Think of it as a transparent sheet that you laid on top of your
image.
3. Select the blush tool and choose the appropiate size and texture. (100 solf brush is good for this
project)
4. Pick your color for the skin. Stay towards the dull side of the color spectum. (Try color 9d725a)
5. Begin painting over the face with your brush. (make sure your color layer is selected.)
TIP: for more control.... create separate color layers for eyes, lips, etc.
Pick any color you want for the eyes but stay close to the gray area.... Duller shades just look
more natural. You can adjust the size and hardness of your brush by dragging the cursor left and
right on the brush palette.
6. Adjust your color layer by going to Image ---> adjustment (There are various ways to adjust your
setting. ) ---> select " Curve" ---> Color Balance ---> Hue/Saturation ---> Brightness and
Contrast .......... adjust your setting until it meets your expectations. It all depends on wich
direction you want the image in.
